More Sandhill Cranes

Took a walk around the neighborhood and found these two near the recharge basin.

Magnolia Grandiflora at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital

This beautiful flower was found on a walkway between the parking garage and one of the many healthcare related offices in the hospital complex.

We have arrived in Colorado!

Well, we completed our move from Bakersfield to Meeker on November 1, 2001.  Everyone arrived safely and the people, dogs and horses are all fine.  We live about 3 miles outside of town on County Road 4, on the mesa overlooking Meeker and the White River...

Repticon – Sharing Reptiles with the World

OK, not really my kind of show but it was there at the fairgrounds and it called my name.  Strange froup of folks attend this event.

Photos From The Past 2

This set has more recent photos, youngest at age 11 in the Drum Corps.

Panzer and Dad. Ride in the pickup.

The Great American Bacon Race!

Fun event, but a little bit pricey. I guess they need to cover the cost of giving away bacon at two water/bacon stations during the run, and at the bacon party afterwards. Oh, and also pay for the big honkin' heavy bacon finisher medallions.

New From Apple?

While playing 'Words With Friends' on my iPhone I suddenly became aware of why apple named their new tablet PC the iPad:

Just a Sunday Ride

Bike ride on the Henry Hudson Trail, first stop was Off The Hook Restaurant & Bar for a quick Yuengling. On the way back home stopped at Water Witch for a coffee. Great local jam, lots of blues and a great rendition of the Stones Dead FLowers.

Hooked up again

I had my final surgery on Thursday to reverse my ileostomy and I'm being released from the hospital in a few hours. Woo-hoo! All systems seem to be working fine and I'm digesting scrambled eggs & pancakes as I write this. I still have a month or so of healing of...

The bridge at Confluence Park

My daily walk/run takes me through Confluence Park just a few miles from home.  This swaying bridge is in the wooded section and crosses over the Uncompahgre River, just about where it joins the Gunnison River. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbQJt3-M0E0 [mappress...

Yearly Update

Just a bunch of pics to keep things updated.

We’re Official Apple Fanbois (sorta)

Sandi was the lucky recipient of an Apple MacBook Air for Christmas and she loves it.  I have had my MacBook Pro for almost a year and I too really like OS-X and the laptop design.  In addition we both have iPhones and we're pretty much entrenched in...

Fall at the Park

Bette leads the way as we walk through the fallen leaves of autumn.

The Orlando Eye

The Wheel at Icon Park opened on May 4, 2015 and I finally went to check it out! My flight time was scheduled for 4:45 (tickets online in advance), but I received an email about an hour ahead saying it was 'not in operation' and that I could make use of my...

Update

Not much news recently.  As if you wanted to know, I had hernia surgery, all went well.  We have had a very mild winter so far, we're in the middle of the second warm spell which is melting all previous snow causing a 2nd mid-winter 'mud season'.  The...

Summer ’05

Summer in Meeker is a short-lived thing, and this year it was very comfortable.  Sandi and I took several trips to see Joe and Anita in Missouri, even spent a lot of time looking at property to purchase.  In the end, nothing came of it as there isn't much in the way...

Range Call ’04

I posted a bunch of photos taken at our Range Call celebration.  It is held every 4th of July (4 day event) and includes rodeo, parade, concert, dance and fireworks.  This year we hosted Steve Azar. One of the best parts is the re-enactment of the Meeker...

Ma Famiglia in Meeker

Went to lunch with Brandy, Matt, Justin, Dakota, Jimmy, Eva and Sandi.  We were there for Justin's opening game 'Cowboy Football!'  Beer choices are sometimes hard, but Drop Top carried the day, and we found that mother Eva reallllly liked it!

Sharpening our Skills

We're starting to visit the Montrose Rod & Gun Club indoor (and outdoor) range more regularly.  Sandi is a natural with her Glock and Combat Commander.

Rode my bike to Work!

Had our first day of warm weather (65 degrees) so I decided to ride my bike to work. The Library is about 8 miles from home, but the first 7 miles is on the Henry Hudson Trail. The last mile or so is on surface streets but the traffic isn't too bad. It was dark coming...

Today I added some cross fencing to the horse pasture. It's easy. Just push in t-posts with the Bobcat , cover with the HorseGuard plastic sleeves, pop in the tape guides and string the electric...

Fly fishing

Went to a local spot outside of Hotchkiss with Sandi, Jimmy, Eva, Jeff, Leta, Justin & Dakota. We fished 4 of the 8 ponds and caught a variety of cutthroat, brown and...
