Moon over Elms

Great full moon last night We're expecting Zana to give us a baby pony this week followed by another from Punkin within 30 days or so.

Rancher in Delta, CO

Fireside at the Veitch’s

We all had a great meal the other night.  Appetizers of shrimp and scallops followed by ribs.  Sitting by the fire is a tradition that never fails to bring out good conversation and warm feelings.

Started a restaurant

It is now mid-may and we're still unpacking at home!  We have started a business as owners of the Flag Creek Cafe, located at the Meeker Golf Course. The startup is taking an inordinate amount of our time and energy, but after two weeks we are beginning to get our...

Thanksgiving, a time for family

This holiday season has started.  The weather here in Delta is just about perfect for fall, crisp with a chill that reminds you of what is on the way.  I'm going into this season with anticipation of Christmas without hospitals, in good health.  I am so grateful to...

A New Baby Colt

Sandi acts as the breeding and babysitting facility for our babies as well as her brother and sister-in-law. This fella is from Dollie, one of Jeff and Leta's mares.  No name yet.

Just a Sunday Ride

Bike ride on the Henry Hudson Trail, first stop was Off The Hook Restaurant & Bar for a quick Yuengling. On the way back home stopped at Water Witch for a coffee. Great local jam, lots of blues and a great rendition of the Stones Dead FLowers.

More iPhone stuff and NCT update

Oakridge Gun Range

Haven't been out shooting in a few years.  Picked up a box of shells and went with a few friends to see how much edge I have lost.  To my surprise I seem to be at least as accurate as I was when I was going regularly.  I'm not really great, but I can still hit the...

It Didn’t Explode!

It's the time of year to burn the fields in preparation for the new hay season.  I have a bit of pyromania in my blood so I always look forward to this task.  Armed with my LP tank and weed burner attachment I set out burning the field south of the house.  All went...

Sister Diane Visit Again

Another lunch date with Diane, and again at Black Forrest Taphouse. It's an easy 2.25 hour drive each way from Port Monmouth, NJ to Fallston, MD.

Blast from the past (redux)

Taken sometime in fall of 1968 is my best guess. Joanne (first wife) and I met at UM College Park. The Zonker raced at Capitol Raceway and posted high twelves.

Captive in my own home

Although my recovery is coming along fine, my mobility is limited by abdominal tenderness. I've been on the couch or in bed for days on end and it is annoying to say the least. The other night brought a beautilul sunset with bright long shadows that enticed me from...

Enjoying my new patio and fireplace

Family got together and built a new patio area complete with a fireplace.  Great spot to relax. Wine and fire is good for the soul.

Fall Weather

Summer was mild, then we had a cold snap in early October with freezing temps, but since then it has been a beautiful fall season.   Let's hope for a normal mild Delta winter.
