Brisket for lunch!

Went to the Central Florida BBQ Blowout at the Oveido Mall parking lot today. At this humongous two-day barbecue competition/celebration, more than 80 teams – both professionals and backyard amateurs – compete hard for the win, and visitors get to taste the luscious...

mmmm, asparagus

All along the irrigation ditch that runs adjacent to our property we have the best volunteer asparagus.  On any given day we can just take a walk and pick as much as we need for a great snack or dinner compliment.  It is so yummy.

Visitor For Thanksgiving

Our good friend and previous neighbor from Bakersfield, Stephanie came to visit over the holiday.  We had a great time just gabbing and enjoying time and food together.

2nd Cutting, Sub Par

We need more water in several areas of the field.  This fall we're going to mark it heavily to promote water flow and fertilize. Rest time after watching our neighbor cut and bale it.  Watching is tough work!

Update

Not much news recently.  As if you wanted to know, I had hernia surgery, all went well.  We have had a very mild winter so far, we're in the middle of the second warm spell which is melting all previous snow causing a 2nd mid-winter 'mud season'.  The...

Started a restaurant

It is now mid-may and we're still unpacking at home!  We have started a business as owners of the Flag Creek Cafe, located at the Meeker Golf Course. The startup is taking an inordinate amount of our time and energy, but after two weeks we are beginning to get our...

Fall at the Park

Bette leads the way as we walk through the fallen leaves of autumn.

Range Call ’04

I posted a bunch of photos taken at our Range Call celebration.  It is held every 4th of July (4 day event) and includes rodeo, parade, concert, dance and fireworks.  This year we hosted Steve Azar. One of the best parts is the re-enactment of the Meeker...

Mid-June update

As I mentioned, tomorrow I go in for my 2nd surgery.  I'm looking forward to it and getting my intestines back to normal.  The worst part is having to stay in the hospital bed for 7 days. We are in the middle of our first hay cutting this year, don't know if we will...

Sunset and update

I have been remiss in my posting here so I thought I'd offer up an iPhone photo for your enjoyment.  It was taken using the iPhone app called Panorama that automatically stitches together two adjacent photos.  The frame was added wit the app Photogene. On the...

New Baby Pics

I have been remiss in posting pics of our new baby girl.   She is about 2 weeks old and we are expecting another around Mother's day.

Bankruptcy hearing in Denver

I've recently returned from testifying in the NCT case and it reminds me why I was happy to leave the legal arena.  For the last three years I have steadfastly tried to guide NCT forward for the benefit of the creditors, local community and ultimate new...

Great Memorial Day Burgers

But first, a thought and a prayer for all those that have given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great country, as well as those who have returned with physical and emotional scars. Thanks So, ain't that a swell  lookin' burger?

Big Snow

It snowed on and off for almost 48 hours and we got about a foot of the white stuff, Drägo looks good in it.

Enjoying my new patio and fireplace

Family got together and built a new patio area complete with a fireplace.  Great spot to relax. Wine and fire is good for the soul.

We have a new baby!

After waiting 11 months we finally have our new baby pony.  Even before leaving California we tried to get Zanna pregnant but had little success with artificial insemination.  The original stud just didn't have good swimmers I guess. Well, last summer we...

Foggy Snow Dusting

What a beautiful morning it was!

Hammocks rock

Yesterday, between setting irrigation dams, siphon tubes, and filling horse waterers I did manage to take a break.  Today I intend to do the same with a Modelo Especial and a Drew Estate.

Sister Visit

A few weeks ago I visited my sister Diane in Maryland. She wanted to get a tattoo and since she was with me when I got my first, I was excited to accompany her. We had a great lunch with Cosmos and then headed for Flesh Tattoo in...

Everyone seems to get butt-hurt so easily these days.  At least the Irish don't get offended easily. I don't see them demanding that Lucky Charms change their name or stop using the diminutive supernatural being in Irish folklore, the beloved...

About 7 minutes of Hyperlapse video of my 40 minute ride home from work at the Matawan Aberdeen Library. It starts off on surface streets for about 1.5 miles but the balance of about 6 miles is on the Henry Hudson Trail which parallels the Ocean, sometimes only a...
